Brief Description
Valhalla Hills is a building strategy game in the tradition of games like The Settlers or “Cultures”. The player has to lead his outcast Viking heroes to the top of a mountain, where a magical portal is leading to Valhalla. But to do so the Vikings need to do one thing first: Survive!
The player faces challenges and dangers in the inhospitable mountain region and must find a way to the peak. Since the Vikings wouldn’t survive long in this territory the player has to take good care of them, protect them, clothe them and feed them as well as help them to fend off ghostly residents and wild beasts. The Vikings with a mind of their own and a thirst for mead tend to have a relaxed view on things, making it harder for the player to achieve his goal. And then the next threat is nearing over the high seas…
Valhalla Hills features an indirect control. You do not control single characters but give general commands. These should be well-thought, the protagonists have their own mind and their own needs they want to follow. Even if that means work is left undone.
Constantly newly generated maps, varying mountain terrains, day and night cycles and a well-balanced economy-system ensure endless challenges and variety.
Technically Valhalla Hills is powered by the Unreal 4 Engine making its optical performance gleam
The Story
Spurned Heroes
What is this? The poor Vikings have lived their lives according to the will of the gods, have died honourably and are now in front of the gates of Asgard to gain entry to Valhalla. Throughout their whole lives they have bravely plundered Paris and the cities of Europe and milked their opponents dry – and now this! The gods don’t let them in! Just shut the door in their faces! No party to celebrate, no drinking mead and eating grilled boar meat. No eternal glory and feast on Odin’s side. This cannot be true! These ungrateful miserable gods! Spurn the Vikings – just like that!
Why? Well, Odin, the ruler of Asgard, is in a bad temper. A miserable temper! Even as a child his youngest son Leko used to play with bricks rather than participating in tournaments and Drinking orgies, as it would best suit a god. Technically the Vikings should have… well… Enough of this, a wolf pit isn’t an option for Odin’s son. So this happened: on his 18th birthday Leko ought to take the exams of the gods and become one of them. He failed in boar-long-throwing, in drinking a sea of mead and in Mjölnir-tossing. In the end Odin had enough, appointed his worthless son to ‚God of the builders‘, exiled him to earth and rammed up the gates of Asgard. Enough is enough!
So, here they are, the outcasted vikings and son Leko; sitting on the dull earth and wanting to return to Valhall. Since all the complaining and wailing won’t help them, they decide they need a leader to take on things. And in they have Leko, the son of a god. That suggests itself, doesn’t it?
Leko spontaneously gathers the slain heroes around himself. He will use his unique constructional abilities to lead the vikings up to the peaks of Valhalla Hills, to enter the magic portal and find their way back to the realm of the gods. If a honourable death doesn’t take you to Valhall you walk!
So, lend a hand and let’s get started! Up to the top and into the gate! The gods will see who wins out this time! Piece of cake! You won’t get away with that, Æsirs! Don’t test us! Not like that!

Un jeu de stratégie et de construction de type Settlers sur le thème des Vikings, par le studio Funatics Software (publié par le studio Daedalic Entertainment).

Et pour cela le joueur devra veiller à les protéger, les habiller et les nourrir tout comme les aider à repousser certains habitants fantomatiques et des bêtes sauvages. Les Vikings sont livrés avec l'esprit qui leur est propre et leur goût prononcé pour l'hydromel, de ce fait ils ont tendance à avoir une vision détendue des choses, ce qui ne facilite pas la tâche du joueur pour atteindre son objectif, car il ne les contrôle pas directement mais leur fournit des instructions générales qu'ils suivront ... s'ils sont d'accord.

Le joueur doit mener ses héros Viking exilés au sommet d'une montagne où un portail magique les mèneront au Valhalla. Mais pour ce faire, les Vikings doivent d'abord faire une chose : Survivre !
Le joueur fait face à des défis et à des dangers dans une région montagneuse inhospitalière et doivent trouver un chemin vers la crête. Du fait que les Vikings ne survivraient pas longtemps dans ce territoire, le joueur doit prendre soin d'eux, les protéger, les habiller et les nourrir tout comme les aider à repousser certains habitants fantomatiques et des bêtes sauvages. Les Vikings avec l'esprit qui leur est propre et leur goût prononcé pour l'hydromel ont tendance à avoir une vision détendue des choses, ce qui ne facilite pas la tâche du joueur pour atteindre son objectif. Et puis la menace suivante se situe au delà de la haute mer ...
Valhalla Hills dispose d'un contrôle indirect. Vous ne contrôlez pas de simples personnages simples mais vous leur fournissez des instructions générales. Ils doivent être mûrement réfléchis, car nos protagonistes ont leur propre esprit et leurs propres besoins qu'ils veulent suivre. Même si cela doit impliquer que le travail est laissé en plan.
Des cartes constamment régénérées, des terrains montagneux variés, des cycles de jour et de nuit et d'un système d'économie bien équilibré assureront au joueur la variété et des défis sans fin.
Techniquement Valhalla Hills est propulsé par le moteur Unreal Engine 4, rendant sa performance visuelle resplendissante.
