What is LoW, you ask? Simply put, it's a rewrite for modern architectures of the incredibly good game Ultima Underworld 2: Labyrinth of Worlds that came out in the early 90's.

I'm rewriting it from the ground up, while trying to keep the feel and spirit of the original masterpiece intact.

At the moment, the tech demo allows you to walk (and jump) around all the Underworld II levels and worlds, has all NPCs and most monsters. You also get to see and manipulate all the dynamic objects of the game, and peek inside containers. The paperdoll has been implemented, too, and lets you access your inventory as well as wear/wield armor and weapons.

It is now possible to converse with the various NPCs. While not all the conversations work correctly (or at all) most do for the most part and it is now possible to actually understand the storyline. :) NPCs are also able to give items, now.

Another worthy project you might want to go take a look at is Underworld Adventures which seeks to recreate the first installement of that series and is doing a darn good job of it.

If you are an Ultima VII fan, then Exult is going to tickle you pink! The freshly released version 1.0 will allow you to play Black Gate and Serpent Isle with the addons on modern architectures, with a few gameplay improvements to boot!

Un moteur solo compatible avec les données du jeu Ultima Underworld II : Labyrinth of Worlds (en abandonware), un jeu d'aventures de type médiéval fantastique au tour par tour.
Cette ré-écriture du moteur original a tenté de reproduire la minutie et l'esprit de l'original.

Dans son état actuel, il s'agit d'une démonstration technique permettant de marcher (et courir) au travers des niveaux et mondes du jeu, les NPC et monstres sont fonctionnels. Vous pouvez voir et manipuler tous les objets dynamiques du jeu et jeter un coup d'œil dans les coffres. Votre inventaire est implémenté et vous pouvez accéder à votre tenue/armure et armes.
Vous pouvez converser avec les NPC, celles-ci peuvent aussi vous transmettre des objets.
Même si toutes les conversations ne fonctionnent pas correctement, l'essentiel fonctionne, vous permettant de comprendre le scénario.

"L’histoire est plus liée à la série principale des Ultima que le premier épisode; concrètement, le jeu se déroule entre les deux parties d’Ultima VII : un an après les évènements de la Porte Noire, l’Avatar — ainsi que toute personne présente dans le château de Lord British — est pris au piège par le Gardien sous un dôme de pierre noire. L’Avatar doit voyager vers d’autres mondes sous le contrôle du Gardien afin de libérer le château de l’emprise du sort".
