The Flight of the Maxima (TFM) is an unlikely fusion of Sci-fi, dark comedy and medieval Christianity.
It is a free roaming roleplaying computer game where you can explore vast lands, talk to an extremely diverse amount of people, and do a lot of crazy things that certainly sounded like a good idea at the time.
There's also a central story element that begins with you suddenly finding yourself a long way from home and dealing with… well let's not spoil things just yet.
The game can run on Linux and Windows, is intended to run on Mac (untested as of late), and both the games code and it's assets are Open Source (BSD), which means you can modify and redistribute the game nearly any way you want.
So what can you do in it?

Flight of the Maxima (TFM, ex Reign of the Just : The False Messiah aka rotj, ex IT-HE Roleplaying Game Engine aka Ire, liens ci-dessus) est un RPG graphique dont le thème est une fusion improbable de science-fiction, comédie sombre et de christianisme médiéval.
C'est un RPG où le joueur explore de vastes terres, converse avec un nombre extrêmement diversifié de personnes, et fait de nombreuses choses folles qui ressemblaient certainement à une bonne idée à l'époque. Il y a bien-sûr un élément central de l'histoire démarrant avec le joueur - qui se retrouve soudainement loin de sa maison à traiter avec ... eh bien il ne faut pas gâcher les choses tout de suite.
INSTALLATION (non testé) :
Il utilise la bibliothèque FMOD.
Pré-requis :
En console et avec les droits superutilisateur installez les bibliothèques suivantes par :
# apt-get install build-essential subversion libsdl-dev libsdl-mixer1.2-dev liballegro-dev g++ libsqlite3-dev libjpeg-dev
Compilation à partir du source (rappel : un paquet Debian et un binaire classique sont également disponible) :
Téléchargez le jeu (en utilisateur normal) par la commande :
$ svn co https://ire.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/ire/trunk ire
Placez-vous dans le répertoire racine du source et lancez la compilation par les commandes successives suivantes :
$ cd ire/engine
$ make -fmakefile.lin
🚀️ LANCEMENT DU JEU
Dans le répertoire racine du jeu lancez :
Pour un affichage fenêtré : $ ./ire-engine -window
Pour un affichage plein écran : $ ./ire-engine
