Installation check for the correct PHP version and modules, as well as write permissions on needed directories. I guess the problem is not there (or there is a bug in install), but you should double-check those points.
Unfortunately if I try to launch Galette there is nothing happening You may test the symptoms by accessing my site: http://dupont-sailing.info/galette You will notice that the bowser's tab is showing the Galette logo and description but that's all - the screen is empty.
The blank page indicate an important problem in the PHP scripts, there is no way to find out which one without further informations. You should - if you can - look at the web server logs (as pointed Melissa), or display errors on page (see http://galette.eu/dc/index.php/pages/FAQ?navlang=en).
Note: I am not used to work with this type of forum so I hope I am not spamming those that I should not
