Secret Maryo Chronicles is an Open Source two-dimensional platform game with a design similar to classic computer games.
SMC has computer support to a great degree by using an accelerated Open Graphics Library for the best possible graphic design and stock performance.
Features
In-Game Editor
Activated with the F8 key in the game. You can insert any graphic file as a background or sprite in the game. All graphics like hedges and ground sprites are included. You can insert enemies, change the player start position, insert special objects like a powerup box, global level effects, and create half-massive sprites which the Player can jump through, but can not fall through. For a more detailed explanation see the Editor tutorial.
Many Levels
Each level ends with a Gate or Pipe, press up to enter the next level or the direction key into the pipe.
Multiple Maryo Stages
Includes Small, Normal, Fire, Snow, Star and Ghost Maryo. Advance to the next stage by getting Mushrooms, Fireplants and Stars but beware of the Poison Mushroom. The powerup items can be obtained by jumping into question mark boxes.
Multiple Overworlds
Get an aerial perspective between levels, just like the World Map in Super Mario World.
Great Sound and Music
High quality Ogg music and sound for a great game feeling.
Save and Load
Save anytime in a level or world from the game menu. Then load whenever you want.
Get Extra Lives
By getting 100 coins or finding the Green Mushrooms and secret Moons.

Secret Maryo Chronicles is a free and open-source two-dimensional platform computer game that began in 2003. The game has been described by the German PCtipp as a Super Mario Bros. clone.
History
Secret Maryo Chronicles began as a SourceForge project in January 2003. It was developed and is maintained by the Secret Maryo Chronicles development team, led by Florian Richter ("FluXy"). The game is OpenGL-based and has an original soundtrack and a built-in game editor. It has been released under the GNU General Public License, Version 3. The game has been expanded up the latest release in 2009. A continuation called The Secret Chronicles of Dr. M. (TSC) is as of April 2017 under continued development.
Reception
Secret Maryo Chronicles was listed as the number one open source video game by APC in January 2008. The game was named one of the most promising open source games of 2008 by El Heraldo. In 2008, Stern praised the speed of the game and its puzzle solving, and heute praised SMC as a well-made non-violent game for children. SMC was selected in March 2009 as "HotPick" by Linux Format. An in-detail review of the Free software magazine in 2015 called the game a "great way to procrastinate".
SMC became a popular freeware titled offered by many freeware download outlets; the game was downloaded over 3.4 million times just via Sourceforge.net between 2004 and May 2017.

Fonctionnalités
Éditeur intégré au jeu
Activé avec la touche F8 dans le jeu. Vous pouvez insérer n'importe quel fichier graphique comme arrière-plan ou image-objet dans le jeu. Tous les graphiques comme les haies et sprites de sol sont inclus. Vous pouvez insérer des ennemis, changer la position de départ du joueur, insérer des objets spéciaux comme un powerup, des effets de niveau global et créer des sprites semi-massifs sur lesquels le joueur peut sauter, mais ne peut traverser. Plusieurs niveaux
Chaque niveau se termine par une porte ou un tuyau, appuyez sur [↑] pour entrer dans le niveau suivant ou la touche de direction dans le tuyau.
Niveaux multiples

Le jeu est malheureusement abandonné et n'est plus dans les dépôts Debian.
