The Mx44 is a polyphonic multichannel midi realtime software synthesizer. It is written in C and hand optimized for the (Intel) MMX instruction set. It runs under Linux, using the JACK daemon and a kernel modified for realtime performance. The sourcecode is licensed under GPL.

The core algorithm is a 4 x 4 crossmodulating matrix (phase and amplitude) with individual envelopes for each oscillator. Oscillators have individual frequency intonation, can emphasize any of the eight first harmonics and even do some internal crossmodulation. Envelopes can be switched between VCA and a VCF-like mode. The sustainloop of the envelope can be brought into oscillation in the audible spectre as well as provide slow LFO sweeps. Also, key and velocity modifications of phase relationship.

Le MX44 est un synthétiseur MIDI logiciel, polyphonique, multicanal et temps réel.
Il est écrit en C et optimisé pour le jeu d'instructions MMX (Intel). Il fonctionne sous Linux, en utilisant le serveur JACK et un noyau modifié pour la performance temps réel.
Le code source est distribué sous licence GPL.

Son algorithme de base est une matrice de transmodulation (en phase et en amplitude) 4 x 4 avec des enveloppes individuelles pour chaque oscillateur.
Les oscillateurs ont une intonation de fréquence individuelle, ils peuvent mettre l'accent sur l'une des huit premières harmoniques et même faire un peu de transmodulation interne. Les enveloppes peuvent être commutés entre le mode VCA et un mode similaire au VCF.
Le "sustain loop" de l'enveloppe peut être amené en oscillation dans le spectre audible ainsi que de fournir de lents balayages LFO. De même concernant les clés et modifications de vitesse de relation de phase.
