Un émulateur de micro-ordinateurs AMIGA 500, 500+, 600, 1000, 1200, 4000, CD32 et CDTV de Commodore, par Frode Solheim (à partir du source de WinUAE de Toni Wilen).
En C++ et assembleur.

"A libre, SP / MP AMIGA emulator focusing on the accuracy of emulation" -- Le Bottin
FS-UAE is an Amiga emulator based on the excellent emulation code from WinUAE currently developed and maintained by Toni Wilen, which again builds on the work by the earlier authors of the original UAE and WinUAE.
multi-platform Amiga emulator based on UAE/WinUAE
FS-UAE is a multi-platform Amiga emulator based on updated emulation code from WinUAE.
FS-UAE uses SDL for input, OpenAL for audio and OpenGL for graphics.
UAE is a computer emulator which emulates the hardware of Commodore International's Amiga range of computers. Released under the GNU General Public License, UAE is free software.
UAE was released in 1995 and was originally called the Unusable Amiga Emulator, due to its inability to boot. In its early stages, it was known as Unix Amiga Emulator and later with other names as well. Since none of the popular expansions fit any more, the abbreviation no longer stands for anything, and the software is simply known as UAE — this occasionally gets backronymed as Universal Amiga Emulator, Ultimate Amiga Emulator or Ubiquitous Amiga Emulator.
UAE is almost a full-featured Amiga emulator. It emulates most of its functions:
• Original Chip Set (OCS), Enhanced Chip Set (ECS) and Advanced Graphics Architecture (AGA)
• I/O devices: (floppy disk drives, joystick, mouse and serial ports)
• Processor: Motorola 68000/010/020/040 CPU, optionally a 68881 FPU, and as of WinUAE 3.0.0 beta 15, an enhanced PowerPC JIT core using the QEMU CPU libraries.
• Memory: 2 MB Chip RAM and 8 MB Fast RAM, or 8 MB Chip RAM without Fast RAM. 64 MB Zorro III Fast RAM, independent of Chip RAM setting (68020+ only). 1 MB Slow RAM, for compatibility.
• Picasso 96 graphics with 8 MB of memory
• Serial port, and Simple parallel port is only sufficient for printing.
• Networking via bsdsocket.library emulation
For software, UAE may use disk images made from original Amiga floppy disks. These images have the file extension of "ADF" (Amiga Disk File). Actual Amiga disks cannot be used, because of limitations in the floppy controllers used in other computers. Images of Amiga formatted hard drives can also be made. UAE also supports mapping host operating system's directories to Amiga hard drives.
UAE does not include the original Amiga operating system ROM and files, which are required for running an Amiga system. These are included under license in packages like Amiga Forever. Original Kickstart 3.1 ROM images are also included with AmigaOS4 for PowerPC since version 4.1 Update 4. UAE also supports alternative system ROMs, such as those derived from the AROS project, however these do not provide the same degree of software compatibility as the original ROMs.
UAE has been ported to many host operating systems, including Linux, macOS, FreeBSD, DOS, Microsoft Windows, RISC OS, BeOS, Palm OS, Android, the Xbox console, the PSP, PSVita and GP2X handhelds, iOS, the Wii and Dreamcast consoles, and even to AmigaOS, MorphOS and AROS.
There have been many threads in the past on Usenet and other public forums where people argued about the possibility of writing an Amiga emulator. Some considered UAE to be attempting the impossible; to be demanding that a system read, process and output 100 MB/s of data when the fastest PC was a 66 MHz 486, while keeping various emulated chips (the Amiga chipset) all in sync and appearing as they were supposed to appear to software.
UAE was almost entirely unusable in its first releases, but slowly and step by step, it fleshed out its support of the Amiga chipset and by the end of 1997 was able to emulate an Amiga 500 at a quality and speed that were sufficient for productivity use and for many games.
Since then, UAE has been usable, thanks partly to the effort taken to develop it and partly to the big improvements in technology that brought computers many times faster than those UAE was initially running on. Many Amiga games and applications can run smoothly on a Pentium II-era system. The realization that a useful Amiga emulator could be written contributed to an increase in enthusiasm about emulation, which started or sped-up efforts to write emulators for other and often less popular computer and electronic game architectures.
A major improvement was made in 2000 by Bernd Meyer with the use of Just-in-time compilation, which significantly improved the emulation speed, to the extent that average PCs could now emulate some Amiga software faster than any real Amiga could run it. UAE can use as much of the host's power in native mode as possible, or balance it with other requirements of the host OS, or to accurately reflect the original speed, depending on a user's choice. UAE also provides an RTG-compatible "video card" for the Amiga side of the emulation which is tailored for display on the host hardware, so as not to be limited to the emulation of the original Amiga video hardware.
There are five main forks of the original program:
• WinUAE, designed to run on Windows
• PUAE, designed to run on Unix platforms (continuation of the abandoned E-UAE and also a port of WinUAE)
• FS-UAE, designed to run on Windows, macOS and Linux (a port of WinUAE with a focus on emulating games, featuring a new on-screen GUI and multi-platform online play)
• UAE4all, a stripped version, designed to run a low end Amiga emulation on mobile devices.
The most active fork is WinUAE; current versions of this still contain bugs and compatibility issues.
Specific versions: UAE v0.8.29 2008-11-30, FS-UAE v2.6.2 2015-10-27, E-UAE v0.8.29 2007-03-28
☑ Accurate Amiga Emulation
FS-UAE integrates the most accurate Amiga emulation code available from WinUAE. FS-UAE emulates A500, A500+, A600, A1200, A1000, A3000 and A4000 models, but you can tweak the hardware configuration and create customized Amigas.
☑ On-Screen GUI With Gamepad Control
FS-UAE is fully controllable with a gamepad - you can easily swap floppies and load save states through the on-screen GUI. In addition to being great on your personal computer, FS-UAE is also well suited to be started from an emulator frontend running on a HTPC.
☑ Configuration GUI
FS-UAE includes an easy-to-use graphical configuration program which allows you to enjoy FS-UAE and Amiga emulation without writing configuration files. Using this program is optional, and if you are a minimalist, you can instead use just FS-UAE alone.
☑ Available for Multiple Operating Systems
FS-UAE works on Windows, Linux, Mac OS X, FreeBSD and OpenBSD. Apart from a few small differences, the feature set is the same on all platforms. The same configurations, floppy images and hard drives can be shared between multiple systems.
☑ Solid Joystick and Gamepad Support
Many joysticks and gamepads are recognized out of the box without any configuration, with correct setup both for Amiga and CD32. Support for additional models can be configured with the joystick configuration tool bundled with FS-UAE Launcher.
☑ Video Synchronization
Synchronize to your 50 Hz monitor (for PAL Amiga emulation) or 60 Hz monitor (for NTSC Amiga emulation) for perfect scrolling in games without the micro-stuttering which will otherwise occur. Available on all supported operating systems.
☑ Scaling and Video Options
OpenGL is used for video output, with many options to tweak how the Amiga display is present. The Amiga display is streched to your screen by default, but you can enable aspect correction, zoom in or out, enable shaders for advanced effects, and use custom themes.
☑ OpenRetro Game Database
Integration with the OpenRetro Game Database allows FS-UAE to scan your Amiga game files and automatically create entries (with covers and screenshots) for recognized ADF, IPF CD, and WHDLoad games. No manual configuration is needed.
☑ Emulate High-End Amigas
FS-UAE supports emulating an Amiga 4000 with an CPU as fast as your system can emulate it. Picasso96 drivers can be used with the built-in UAEgfx card to display Workbench in high resolutions and with up to 16.7 million colors, and the built-in bsdsocket.library means that the Amiga will have access to the Internet.
☑ multi-platform Online Play
A unique feature is support for multi-platform online play. You can now play Amiga games against (or with) friends over the Internet. The online play feature is designed in a way which avoids de-synchronization issues.
☑ Available in Multiple Languages
Both FS-UAE and FS-UAE Launcher are translated into several languages. The currently supported languages are French, German, Italian, Norwegian (Bokmål), Polish, and Serbian. -In addition to English, which is the default language.
☑ Flexible Screenshot Support
When you take a screenshot in FS-UAE, by default you get three different images saved to your screenshots folder. One is the real screenshot (the scaled graphics you see on screen), but FS-UAE also saves a 1:1 pixel image of the entire Amiga video output, and also an 1:1 image which is cropped to what you see on screen.
☑ Built-In Support for WHDLoad
If you have archived WHDLoad games in .zip or .lha, you can launch most of them by simply adding the archive as a HD. FS-UAE Launcher will recognize that it is a WHDLoad game, and automatically configure an "internal HD" to boot the game for you.
☑ Open Source Software
FS-UAE is free software and is licensed under GPLv2 (libraries are licensed under LGPL or other open source licenses). Sources are available on the download page, and parts of the FS-UAE project (including the emulator itself) have public git repositories.
☑ Community Support
There is a support forum for FS-UAE on the English Amiga Board with many active registered users. If you are stuck, you'll almost certainly get an answer to your questions there. You can also leave comments on fs-uae.net is you rather want that.
☑ Online Documentation
A great deal of documentation about how to use and configure FS-UAE is available on fs-uae.net.
☑ PPC Accelerator Support
Emulation of the CyberStorm PPC (and Blizzard PPC) means that you can run AmigaOS 4.1 on FS-UAE!
